Credibility Gap
When the U.S first went to war 61% of all Americans said that sending troops to Vietnam was not a mistake. But as the war went on that support was beginning to drop. The term Credibility Gap was created referring to the untruthfulness of Johnsons policies and statements concerning the war. The first time the term was used with the Vietnam War was in 1965 when it ws used to describe Johnson's handling of the American Involvement in the war. This would become a major problem more later in the war causing many Americans to turn on the U.S. and start to have disbelief in the ending of the war and our government decisions in the war.
