My Lai Massacre
The "black eye" for the United States in the Vietnam War, A unit of the U.S. 11th Light Infantry Brigade, Charlie Company was ordered to "seek and destroy" and Vietcong in My Lai which was known to be a safe haven for these soldiers. This unit had been in Vietnam for over three months and had to live with the constant fear of being ambushed or attacked at any moment. They were ordered to find the VC or any person that showed to be part of the VC and to destroy the village and leave no surviving VC. They failed to find any soldiers just villagers. But with a lot of tensions and having to be psychologically braced for a fight they opened fire on the villagers killing over 500 innocent people and even infants. This caused many Problems in both the United States and even worse Vietnam.
