Khmer Rouge
The Khmer Rouge started in Cambodia's jungles in the 1960s they were a guerilla group driven by communism and communistic ideas. They became a major group when Cambodia's leader Prince Norodom Sihanouk was deposed in a military conflict and leaned on the Khmer Rouge for support. This action lent the movements legitimacy and even though he would "lead" the group he wasn't that influential in the groups actions. As the country went into the Civil War the Khmer presented themselves as a party for peace and succeeded in support in the countryside. But in 1975 tey captured the Cambodian Capitol of Phnom Penh and evacuated the entire population of the city. From 1975-1979 they already killed nearly two million Cambodians spreading like a virus from the jungles they quickly controlled the whole country.
